Backsides of some Passion flowers

The backside of a passion flower is almost as interesting as the front... each flower is just as different on the back as the front. Since I don't have any new ones blooming,.... I thought I'd take photos in a different perspective!

This is the P. sanquinolenta since I moved her (after the big "fall")....

Passiflora x allardii and Passiflora 'Raspberry Strudel'

I took a nap yesterday and when I woke up and went outside, I noticed one of the "clothes-line" I had hung several baskets of my flowers on had broken... I had added a few more baskets the day before so I guess it was too much weight. All the baskets were lying on the ground and some of the newly planted flowers were dangling from the clothes line.... out of the dirt, hanging in mid-air.

I knew I was going to re-pot most of the passon flowers before winter when it was time to bring them inside... just got a head start on it, now! Instead of hanging, most of them are now in pots on my deck.... luckily, I didn't see any broken stems or lost buds!

Not much is blooming right now..... so I'm just posting some pretty photos. These two are of Passiflora x allaridii. Close-ups are beautiful!

...and one of my digital "paintings" of Passiflora 'Raspberry Strudel'. I love the colors of her and hoped to capture it in the drawing.

Passiflora 'Raspberry Strudel'

Passiflora 'Pure Vida'

Now, all three of my Passiflora 'Pure Vida' have bloomed (P. 'Pure Vida Purple' and P. 'Pure Vida #7 have bloomed previousily)..... today is the first bloom for the regular P. 'Pure Vida'. To be honest, I would have to see them blooming at the same time to see the differences.... the purple one is darker and, well, more purple! The other two, I can't tell differences. I have P. "Pure Vida #4' hopefully on its way to me....

Passiflora 'Raspberry Strudel' has bloomed today for only the second time. There are many, many buds on it so I look forward to seeing them all!

Passiflora collinvauxii is blooming some more.....
This one is Passiflora 'Blue eyed Susan'.... I liked the sky in the background!
...and Passiflora 'Incense'....

Passiflora cuttings

I decided to try to at least root cuttings in water. It's the quickest and easiest way.... of, course, I don't know how much luck I'll have. The glasses and greenery looks pretty in the window and I like how I can monitor the progress easily this way. Can't hurt!

P. arida and P. morifolia blooming!

I have anxiousily been waiting for P. arida to bloom. It has the fuzziest leaves and beautiful greenery all over!

This plant was supposed to be P. membranacea but I've learned it's not! Sometimes you never know what you're going to get when you order.... which makes it kind of fun, too! This plant ended up being (we're pretty sure) P. morifolia.... it's growing like crazy and has tons of blooms!

P. pure vida #7 is the prettiest color! She has many buds waiting to bloom....
P. incense bloomed today for the first time. I thought it had been blooming already, but that was actually P. 'Blue-eyed Susan'. I didn't look at the tag and just went on memory. They both bloomed today so I could see the differences!

This one is P. 'Blue-eyed Susan'....
....and this one is P. 'incense'

A variety of Passiflora photos and paintings...

This one is Passiflora 'Monika Fisher'... it's a gorgeous deep purple!

I have been waiting for three years for my Passiflora 'Sunburst' to bud... I noticed a new stem growing last week and now that stem is over a foot long and has 4 buds on it!!!! Talk about determined...

Passiflora 'Pure Vida Purple' is such a pretty color! It has several buds waiting to bloom for me...

So far, this is my favorite "painting" of passion flowers. I love the red and the horizontal design. It was enjoyable making this one... if only I could remember how I did it!

Passiflora sanquiolenta

I couldnt wait for this one to bloom! It's tinnier and more delicate than I would have thought. This is also the first time I've been able to capture one of my hummingbirds with my flowers!

'Pure Vida Purple'

I have three different 'Pure Vidas'... ('Pure Vida', 'Pure Vida Purple', and 'Pure Vida #7') all of them are budding right now. This one blommed after I left this morning. I came home from work and found her happily blooming amongst many other buds! The 'Pure Vida' will probably bloom the end of the week!

Passion flowers that are newly budded: 'Piresii', 'Marian', 'Jeanette', 'Sanquinolenta', 'Elizabeth', 'Crimson Tears', and 'Lambekins'! It amazes me that the buds seem to come from nowhere!

"Tricuspis"

Found this one blooming right before I went to work this morning! There were several blooms and many more buds. Also, found "Colinvauxii" and "a. Caspsularis" blooming. Crazy, the only passion flowers blooming at that time (besides "Lady Margaret" who always blooms) was three white ones! Came home and "Inspiration blue violet" had a large bloom waiting on me!

"Raspberry Strudel"

I'm really excited about this plant blooming!!!! It is a hybrid of Mr. Jim Nevers (an ebay seller of passion flowers whom I 100% recommend anyone to buy from)! Very few gardeners have this plant as of yet (he told me I am the second person to own it)!
He says.... the seed came fro Volker Sanders of Germany. Mr. Sanders crossed P. 'Annette' with P. 'Incarnata'. It flowers year round with only a few breaks. The petals and sepals are pink - filaments are magenta speckled with white. Has a sweet fragrance. No fruit.

It really is a beauty! Strange pink color... especially since I'm use to seeing only purple and red passion flowers!!!!

"Blue Inspiration"

Playing around with photos, again...
...a closeup of 'Inspiration Blue Violet'...

Buds

I think it's neat to see all the different buds of each passion flower. They are as varied as the actual blooms. I should do the different leaves, also!

Buds!

"Membranacea" is a plant I have had for 3 years.... today, I came home to find tiny buds all over the plant! This is the first summer I had replanted it and let it be outside.... guess it's happy! I'm amazed at how much it has grown over the past month.
"Arida" is a new plant (bought from Jim Nevers in Florida).... has the fuzziest leaves! Today, it also has started to bud!

"Citrina"

I forgot to add this one to my list of passion flowers blooming. This is my third Citrina plant. I bought one from a local nursery several years ago... dried out outside. Another one died a few days after I received it in the mail.... now I have this one, for a couple of months. She's bloomed several times (always while I'm at work). I come home and find the bloom closing up. Luckily, one Saturday, I came home early from work and found her! Growing like crazy right now, too!

"Colinvauxii"....

Another "playing around with" passion flower "ART"...

I like the red in this one!

My "x allardii"

I've been playing around, trying to replicate vintage floral illustration... having fun "playing around".... I've missed being "artsy" and "painting"....

Passion flowers that have bloomed so far....

I have had so much fun! Everyday, after work, I rush out to see which flowers are blooming. In the morning, I check, so that I can take a new bloom to work and show it off! One day, last week, I had seven different passion flowers blooming!
...Lady Margaret (of course), "Caerulea-slearis", "Star of Surbiton", "Colinvauxii", "Capsularis", "Violetta", and "Incense."
